Yanda Log Cabin
A cabin that showcases the rise of Glen Carbon, the Yanda Log Cabin was home to Bohemian immigrants William and Anna Yanda. It was built on an offshoot of the Goshen Trail and established necessary blacksmithing services for weary travelers. The Yanda family passed this cabin down through generations until they sold it in the 1940s.
Discovered underneath aluminum siding in 1989, this cabin has since served as a local gathering place for Glen Carbon residents, hosting events like field trips, apple butter festivals, pioneer days, sewing circles, and more.
Stop by the third Saturday of April through October, 10 am-2 pm, to see inside the cabin, chat with volunteers and see what life was like in early Glen Carbon. Call 618-288-7271 or email gcmuseum@glen-carbon.il.us with any questions or to schedule group and private tours.
