Historic Route 66 is known for adventure, fun, and exploration and that is exactly what you'll find on this wooded hiking and biking trail located at the west side of Lake Lou Yaeger in Litchfield. Stroll under the canopy of trees amidst the beauty of nature. Hikers will encounter flat to steeper grades with uneven terrain and find hiking difficulty from easy to moderate exertion.
Hop on your mountain bike and stretch your legs and your skills- difficulty covers all levels of exertion from easy to difficult. The hiking and biking trail is approximately 6.6 miles round trip. Maps and trail markers will show you the way. Trail heads are marked with signs and markers and are accessible at any picnic area or playground. From April 1 to Oct. 31, restrooms are available at picnic areas along the trail. Bring water, sunscreen, snacks and enjoy a fun filled day on the trails.
The Route 66 Hike and Bike Trail rests on land next to Lake Lou Yaeger and is close to Marina 1, Milnot Beach, campgrounds, and the lake superintendent's office.
