Mister Donut
Did you know Godfrey, IL is home to the last Mister Donut in the United States? Once a popular chain widespread across the country, nearly every Mister Donut was bought out by Dunkin' in 1990, save for a few family-owned shops. Today, it's one of the largest chains in the world outside the U.S., particularly popular in Japan. The last American Mister Donut in Godfrey was taken over by former Senior Chief of the U.S. Navy, Caesar Blanco, and his wife Aimee Blanco September 1, 2004.
Entering Godfrey's Mister Donut is a throwback to the past; much of the shop has been preserved from its glory days with bright orange booths and barstools, vintage signage, and old-school bake cases full of sweet treats. The shop offers over FIFTY varieties of donuts including old-fashioneds, cake donuts, yeast raised donuts & donut holes, jelly-filled, long johns with custard, maple bars, bowties, twists, and many more! Find fresh apple fritters, cinnamon rolls, turnovers, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, and don't miss out on Mister Donut's renowned biscuits and gravy!
As the sign above the register says, Mister Donut "Keeps it Easy- Makes it Good" - the shop opens bright and early Monday - Friday 4 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday 4 a.m. - 1 p.m.
