Stretching from New Douglas to Pontoon Beach, MCT Nickel Plate Trail is 28 miles long and runs through farmland, woodland, and urban areas. The combination paved/limestone trail passes near Glen Carbon's Miner Park, the LCCC N.O. Nelson Campus, the Edwardsville Children's Museum, and Alhambra Fireman + Legion Park. The path is near Edwardsville's historic district and multiple locations to eat and shop. The Nickel Plate is a great trail to ride to see the fall harvest and animals like white-tailed deer, cottontail rabbits, and wild turkey year-round.
