Bay Creek Hiking Area
The Bay Creek Hiking area lies just south of Vin Fiz Road near the small town of Nebo, Illinois. Bay Creek is a fully native hiking area with no paved trails. The large Bay Creek, after which the park is named, runs through the property, depositing driftwood and sand banks. The creek may be fished and swimming is possible. Farmland surrounds the area and many native species call the property home including white-tailed deer, coyotes, songbirds, and birds of prey. The area is very dark at night which makes it an excellent area to go stargazing- just be sure to pack in and pack out all gear and trash and use the restrooms in Nebo before heading out as there are no trash receptacles or park bathrooms!
